From The East: February 2010

FROM THE EAST

Bretheren:

I can tell you that we are off to a great start for this Masonic year. We had 20 in attendance for our first stated meeting.

It was a pleasure to see the brethren and to witness the presentation of the 50-year veterans emblem and certificate to Worshipful Brother Donald Ford Ritenour. A beautiful presentation was made by Most Worshipful George Harry Chapin, Past Grand Master (1999). Worshipful Brother Don had a few memories to share of the last 50 years of his Masonic travels.

I’m excited this year as I have a great line of officers who have worked hard and are progressing in their Masonic knowledge and ritual. I truly wish more members could see their work. OH, YOU CAN, JUST COME DOWN TO THE LODGE!

Our stated meeting in February will be the official visit of the DDGM, RW Brother Larry Alexander. As always it will be a pleasure to receive him in the lodge and hear him speak of the Grand Masters goals for this year. We will have a dinner at 6:30 PM prior to the meeting at 7:30 PM. We will also have a short program by our Newest Master Mason Chasen Peabody on “Early American Masons”. Please come out and support him.

Our DIW, Worshipful Brother Mike King, has set attainable goals for our district schools and I hope every Brother would take advantage of this educational opportunity. The District schools will be held at different lodges throughout the year. (See the events listing for times and places).

Our monthly dinners continue to be a success and I encourage all to attend. Bring a friend (Masonic or not) and your family. Trip down, just your time, Dinner $10.00, Masonic fellowship PRICELESS.

In closing if you have not been to lodge recently, please make an effort to attend wherever you are, you will not regret it. Take some one with you. Have a great month and stay safe.

Rex Rockhill

Worshipful Master
